Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs - 'Tapes & Money'
Crappy video. Nifty number. Terrific schnoz.
Crappy video. Nifty number. Terrific schnoz.
The Good Suns are currently buzzing from the success of this great viral video for forthcoming single "Pop Wound", featuring modern day tragi-comic anti-hero, former MP Lembit Opik, perfecting the art of "Dad Dancing"!
Catch them at HEROES on Saturday 10th March!
Do you remember when 808 State released Pacific 808 and Groove Armada released At The River and Bonobo did that one? Every ten years a trippy electro classic gets released and this could be it for this decade. Let's hope it doesn't get lost in a flood of information.
Talented Lianne La Havas seems to be justifying the buzz around her with this lovely duet. But Willy Mason is surely the more seductive of the two. It's incredibly hard work for a bloke to be seductive you know.
I hate dance music and night clubs but Caspa is king and this video is great little piece.
R.I.P. Jerry and the greatest American band ever.
Hard-Fi return with this big tune and statement. Trouble is, it charted at no.51! But that's just symptomatic of a media run by snobs and toffs schooled in the art of the obscure and who consider writing a pop tune to be a crime. And all that the culturally squeezed middle classes are left with is a choice between moronic X-Factor and tuneless The Horrors.
I don't know anything about this band. Despite the boom in global social networks and proliferation of portable communication devices, like most bands these days they seem completely impossible to contact. What a shame. As for the tune it might as well be a Cream number. Then again, Cream were arguably the greatest band of all time so that's absolutely fine by me. Terrific video of some long-hairs on wheels too!
Thanks god. Dave Grohl is the last person left in music with a sense of humour.
It takes a bunch of adolescent Swedish girls to show us how to do indie pop....A brilliant band. See them live if you can and check out their last album too!
The most hit and miss band ever. But when it's a hit it's worth the wait. This one really works it's way into you. I woke up at 3am singing it in my head.
A complete paucity of tunes this month means that this is the best I can offer. Actually, it looks like an ideal kind of gig - no need to worry about getting a drum kit to the venue!
Tune of the year for me so far. And final confirmation that dubstep has well and truly landed. Also a wonderful coming together of the classes with Mr. Hudson (that rare example of a toff with soul) once more teaming up with the lower orders. Apparently in the next video Caspa goes quail hunting with him. Me class-conscious?! Nah! Oh by the way, if you are over 25 this is what young people listen to.
The best psychedelic band around? This generation's Pink Floyd? Four extremely well brought up lads with a penchant for mind altering substances. Expect them to be driving around their country estates in super cars very shortly.
It's been 5 years in the making but dupstep finally climbs over the parapet with this act which bizarrely enough started off doing acoustic sets at The Old Queen's Head with Dead or Alive!! (single to be released on Columbia / Sony).
To be fair, the club remixes take this up to another level. Seek them out and turn it up. Still, a great return for Kelis and a very pretty vid.
26th February 2004, The Arts Café, Aldgate East, London - Mystery Jets
perform their first ever gig and it's at a Dead or Alive night. Will got mugged
on the tube on the way to the show! I thought the band were a joke and their
first EP unlistenable. How wrong I was! One of my favourite bands around
these days. And they are back with their third album now on Rough Trade. Download

Not sure whether this is tired self-referential hip-plop piffle or groundbreaking Freudian
self-analysis? In the spirit of the General Election, you decide!
This got washed up on the shore. Fantastic.

This has set women's lib back by 40 years. It's disgusting. But the beat
is undeniable. Please close your eyes and ignore the lyrics.
